What is the Hijri Calendar?

The Hijri calendar follows the moon. It has 12 lunar months, but the year only has 354 or 355 days. Because it is about 11 days shorter than a standard solar year, your Hijri age will always be a little bit older than your regular age. How does the Hijri age calculator work?

It subtracts your Hijri date of birth from today's date in the Islamic calendar and shows your age in Hijri years, months, and days. The conversion is based on the Umm al-Qura calendar used in Saudi Arabia.

Why is my Hijri age higher than my Gregorian age?

The Hijri year is about 11 days shorter than the Gregorian year (354–355 days instead of 365–366). Over a lifetime those days add up, so your age in Hijri years is slightly higher.

Can I use it to calculate someone else's age?
